Maharashtrian Poha

🧺 Ingredients

  • 1 cup Poha (flattened rice) 🌾
  • Water for rinsing πŸ’§
  • 2 teaspoons Oil πŸ›’οΈ
  • Β½ teaspoon Mustard seeds 🌱
  • Β½ teaspoon Cumin seeds 🌿
  • 10–15 Groundnuts (peanuts) πŸ₯œ
  • 1 Green chilli, finely chopped 🌢️
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped πŸ§…
  • 1 Potato, peeled and finely chopped πŸ₯”
  • Salt to taste πŸ§‚
  • Β½ teaspoon Turmeric powder πŸ’›

Method

  1. Rinse the poha gently under running water 1–2 times πŸ’§. Strain and keep aside for 15 minutes to soften 😊
  2. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame πŸ”₯. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, then add cumin seeds 🌱🌿
  3. Add groundnuts and sautΓ© until light golden and crunchy πŸ₯œβœ¨
  4. Add chopped green chilli and onion πŸŒΆοΈπŸ§…. SautΓ© until onions turn soft and translucent 😊
  5. Add chopped potato, salt, and turmeric powder πŸ₯”πŸ§‚πŸ’›. Mix well, cover, and cook until potatoes are tender πŸ‘
  6. Add the softened poha 🌾 and gently mix so it doesn’t break 🀍
  7. Cook on low flame for 2–3 minutes, stirring lightly 😌
  8. Switch off the flame and serve hot πŸ˜‹πŸ½οΈ
