Maharashtrian Poha
π§Ί Ingredients
- 1 cup Poha (flattened rice) πΎ
- Water for rinsing π§
- 2 teaspoons Oil π’οΈ
- Β½ teaspoon Mustard seeds π±
- Β½ teaspoon Cumin seeds πΏ
- 10β15 Groundnuts (peanuts) π₯
- 1 Green chilli, finely chopped πΆοΈ
- 1 Onion, finely chopped π§
- 1 Potato, peeled and finely chopped π₯
- Salt to taste π§
- Β½ teaspoon Turmeric powder π
Method
- Rinse the poha gently under running water 1β2 times π§. Strain and keep aside for 15 minutes to soften π
- Heat oil in a pan on medium flame π₯. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, then add cumin seeds π±πΏ
- Add groundnuts and sautΓ© until light golden and crunchy π₯β¨
- Add chopped green chilli and onion πΆοΈπ§
. SautΓ© until onions turn soft and translucent π
- Add chopped potato, salt, and turmeric powder π₯π§π. Mix well, cover, and cook until potatoes are tender π
- Add the softened poha πΎ and gently mix so it doesnβt break π€
- Cook on low flame for 2β3 minutes, stirring lightly π
- Switch off the flame and serve hot ππ½οΈ
